I got my picture frames from a garage sale. I found 3 easel types and 1 hinged type and they were in good condition too. They go great on top of my fireplace and out of reach of kids and pets. Garage sales and dollar stores do have good deals.
Hinged photo holders do make storing frames easy and fast. I simply fold them and store them when I need to. I like their versatility. Also, I don't need backings like easel frames do and this saves me space as well. The easel backing thingy looks really ugly especially if it's on a table and the opening is facing the other way.
Hinged frames can be dangerous, my 6 yr old nephew used one to trap his cousin's fingers just as she grabbed onto one side of the frames. Kids... We had to put lots of ice on her fingers. Look and appreciate - no touch, is my rule now whenever they come to my home.
Double picture frames are nice and lovely from all angles but they can be a pain to clean up. Especially if you have kids that touch them regularly. I try to put them up where they can't touch them, but even adult family and friends like to pick them up and I get saddled with cleaning lots of fingerprints left behind.
So that is what they are called - double sided picture frames. I saw just this frame the other day as a display piece in a store and it looked so good. Especially from front and back! I love it. This one was rather large since it was a display piece for a poster. I want just this type.
